The humans and I just spent a fabulous week on the river between Oxford and Abingdon.
It was, in the vernacular of the younger humans on the trip, a holiday made of win!
We started out with an overnight stay in Oxford with my human’s brother and sister-in-law, during which we visited the Pitt Rivers Museum.
I was glad to see a fellow bear guarding the entrance:
There were other friendly (and furry) creatures to chat with inside:
These fellows, on the other hand were neither friendly nor furry:
I spent some time chilling with the great Charles Darwin:
I’m not sure what he would have to say about this specimen we discovered outside:
We then took a nostalgic trip to my human’s alma mater…
…where we reminisced about university days in the sunshine:
We took out one of the college’s punts for a pleasant afternoon on the river – though it seems as though my human’s brother was less than impressed with the steering:
We then joined up with the rest of our party and upgraded to a narrowboat for the second stage of the holiday:
The weather was intermittently inclement, but we forged on:
These “three men in a boat” seemed to have the right idea:
Along the way, we picked up some alarmingly bright flowers and a new plant overlord, which we assiduously fed with insects throughout the rest of the trip:
It was indeed a holiday of much win, hopefully to be repeated again next year!
