Last weekend, the humans and I took a trip to Capel Manor, an agricultural college with large grounds, where there are many different types of garden on display.
It was a hot day and a three mile walk, so it was important to be fully prepared:
One thing we weren’t expecting on arrival was a giant chicken in the foyer!
But the residents turned out to be quite friendly:
Even the mythical ones!
After the long walk to get there, we were glad of all the provisions we’d brought with us, and found a shady spot to partake of some lunch:
There were lots of different plants to admire.
One was named after the manor itself:
Some were large and leafy:
Some were small and brightly coloured:
Some were even furrier than me!
And this one looked like a firework:
The different types of gardens reflected lots of different areas in the world:
And apparently also different types of fauna as well as flora!
This fellow didn’t seem to mind us stopping to visit, though:
We found our way easily to the middle of the maze and enjoyed the view – getting out proved somewhat more difficult!
Some of the flora was even disguised as fauna:
And this creature came as a bit of a shock!
He would have made a nice meal for this fellow, though:
There was even some more artistic culture available with this replica of Van Gogh’s house:
And this beautiful sun mosaic:
The ruins were rather impressive:
Until we found the catalogue detailing their prices – you too could grace your garden with an abbey facade for nearly six thousand pounds!
Overall, though, it was a lovely place, with lots to see – well worth the trip.
