As it is a quintessential British attitude to feel the need not to waste a nice day, the humans and I set out yesterday for a pleasant lunchtime walk. We chose the Parkland Walk, which runs along a disused railway line between Finsbury Park and Highgate.
This tree caught our eye:
It was such an interesting combination of exposed root system and man-made art, that I got another, closer picture:
There was a lot of quite artistic graffiti along the route, but I think this was probably my favourite, for its simplicity and amusing effect:
The path was very cunningly enclosed and secluded, creating an extremely pleasant countryside effect, despite our immediate proximity to dense London housing on both sides:
It was particular interesting to walk through an old station, with the platforms rising on either side – a quite unusual perspective.
The route was sadly rather short, so we just turned around at the end and walked back again, then jumped on the tube to Highbury and Islington and rewarded ourselves with an extremely yummy lunch at Romeo’s Sugar Free Bakery:
A very enjoyable outing, I must say!
