Moomintroll in Japan (again!) – part 1of 4

For those with a keen interest in this blog and an exceptional memory, you may remember that my roving reporter friend Moonmintroll had an amazing trip to Japan, all the way back in April 2014.

Back then, it was a package tour (literally put in a package and sent in the post to Japan), thanks to the lovely folks at Unagi Travel, who arrange special holidays for folks like us. Usually, it’s on behalf on their human, who is often a child who’s too sick to travel. They continue to do a wonderful job.

This time, it was returning with my secondary human and his a group of his friends, who went for a fantastic holiday to Japan in November 2025 (posting is as timely as ever : Editor).

I’ll let Moonmintroll take over from here.

Thanks, Bear! Our fantastic adventure started in Tokyo with so many things planned for our visit (as per the excellent t-shirt!).

This was the first of many places where we stayed.

This is Open-Chan – the first of many new friends I made in Japan.

In Tokyo, we went to the train museum.

The first of lots of scrumptious cook-it-yourself meals.

Geocaching in Ueno Park.

Downtown Shibuya.

Visiting Hachiko.

Buying a goshuincho to collect shrine stamps.

Off on Shinkansen to do the Hakone Loop.

Comfy seat.

Look who was on the wall at the station when we arrived!

On to part two!
