Whipsnade 9
Whipsnade 9, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. This baby rhino made me think it can’t be very easy being a rhino mother. The larger rhino behind him had a sizeable hole in its back leg – can’t be much fun when baby is suckling!

Whipsnade 10
Whipsnade 10, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. And here we have a very obliging antelope, who was quite happy to pose for a picture. Shame his horns didn’t come out in the shot – they were very impressive.

Whipsnade 11
Whipsnade 11, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. This, I can say with some authority, is a 29-year-old Welsh pony by the name of Dai. That makes him as old as my human – I must say he’s looking very good for his age!

Whipsnade 12
Whipsnade 12, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. Ah, this elephant is a little more my size. And kind enough to stand still for a decent picture as well! Kent Cottage 3
Kent Cottage 3, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. Most of the rest of the time was spent in the lounge, watching DVDs. This was initially a big problem, as the DVD player provided would only play in black and white. So, ever resourceful and undesirous of complaining, the humans jumped in the car, drove to Maidstone…

Kent Cottage 4
Kent Cottage 4, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. On our first day, we ventured into Staplehurst in search of supplies. There was a small supermarket, which fulfilled most of our needs, but we also visited The Cottage Bakery for some very nice bread (although it wasn’t as nice as the loaf Lindsay actually baked herself).

Kent Cottage 5
Kent Cottage 5, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. We needed sage to complete the ingredients for the roast dinner, but there was none in the supermarket or the greengrocer’s. However, we were directed to an actual herb garden, which was at the very end of a very windy lane and run by an ancient woman who…

Kent Cottage 6
Kent Cottage 6, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. Lindsay is rather more energetic than my human so, on Day 2, we decided to go for a walk. I hid in her pocket, in case it rained.
