City 1, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. [Cue classical English tea party music…] The city of Lincoln is both charming and civilised. Just look at the wonderful architecture of the cathedral.

City 2, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. The castle was also very imposing. I particularly liked this little tower off in one corner of the walls.

City 3, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. This model of the castle was ingeniously carved into a tree stump. The craftsmanship was very impressive.

City 5, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. The prison chapel in the castle grounds was extremely interesting, though perhaps not particularly civilised. However, the historical and educational aspect fit well with the elegance of the surroundings.

City 4, originally uploaded by Aloysius_Flyte. Inside, the castle was truly beautiful, and we spent some time wandering the grounds and admiring the ambience.
